Wallace State Cross Country Teams Win ACCC Titles
Wallace State Community College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams each earned their seventh consecutive championship titles at the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Region 22 Championship meets held Friday at John Hunt Park in Huntsville.
Wallace State Volleyball Sweeps Calhoun Community College
The Wallace State Volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory in a conference matchup against Calhoun Community College on Oct. 20, with set scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.
Freshman Kailey Dickerson of Wellington led the way for Wallace State, recording 13 kills and 17 digs, while also contributing two assists. Freshman Amanda Monge of Davenport, Fla., added 10 kills, 18 digs, one block and one service ace. Sophomore Chloe Jackson of Athens contributed seven kills, two digs, two blocks and two service aces. Freshman Rachel Mecklenburg of Madison showcased her versatility with 11 kills, six digs, 14 assists and one block.

The Wallace State Volleyball team earned a commanding 3-0 victory over Snead State Community College on Oct. 15, with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-15. The Lady Lions were dominant both offensively and defensively throughout the match.

The Wallace State Men’s Tennis team earned strong finishes at the 2024 Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup, held in Rome, Ga., from Oct. 10-13. The Lions competed against top junior college players from across the nation and secured top-three placement in both singles and doubles play.

The Wallace State Men’s Golf team continued their strong season with a second-place finish at the Calhoun Fall Invitational, hosted by Calhoun Community College at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, on Oct. 6-8. The Wallace State Volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Lawson State Community College on Oct. 9, with set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-18. The Lady Lions delivered a balanced attack, with multiple players making key contributions.

The Wallace State Women’s Tennis team delivered impressive performances at the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships, held at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville from Sept. 27-29. With standout showings in both singles and doubles play, the Lady Lions secured multiple titles and set the stage for future national competition.
